SAN DIEGO, April 27, 2010 - Yesterday morning, over 200 graduates of California Western School of Law walked across the stage at Spreckles Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park in a commencement ceremony dedicated to the late Dwight E. Stanford. Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court Carol A. Corrigan addressed graduates and attendees as the school celebrated its 99th commencement.
"We were honored to have Justice Corrigan address our students at commencement," says Dean Steven R. Smith. "Through her professional successes and service to the State of California, she sets a positive example for our graduates of the helping nature of our profession."
Associate Justice Carol A. Corrigan
Corrigan was appointed Associate Justice in 2006. Prior to that post, she served as an Associate Justice on the Court of Appeal, First District, and Division Three. In 2004, she was named Jurist of the Year for her work with Justice James Ward in re-writing the civil and criminal jury instructions for California, a real-world challenge that affected the administration of justice throughout the state.
Corrigan encouraged graduates to use the law to solve emerging issues in science, technology, and the environment.
